Klamath River Dam Removal Wins Project of the Year (Large) at the Global Infrastructure Conference
On September 15, 2026, the Klamath River dam removal won the Project of the Year (Large category) for the 2026 Project Awards from the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) during the Global Infrastructure Conference in New Delhi, India.
Richard Roos-Collins, WPLG Principal, joined McMillen, Inc. to receive the award. Richard is General Counsel for the Klamath River Renewal Corporation (KRRC), the licensee that undertook the project. McMillen is the Boise-based engineering firm that served as KRRC’s owner’s technical representative during the dam removal.
FIDIC’s Project Awards are granted to infrastructure projects that demonstrate engineering excellence and impact social, economic, and environmental quality of life around the world. The Klamath River dam removal is the largest such project in history, and the award recognizes its extraordinary contributions to enhancement of fisheries, communities, and recreational opportunities in Northern California and the Pacific Northwest.
In May, the Klamath River Renewal Project also won American Council of Engineering Companies’ 2026 Grand Conceptor Award, which is the US-based equivalent of FIDIC’s global Project Award.
